Facebook is a site designed for communication and is a great place to promote your business. The more people that “like” your company on facebook, the better your page will be able to promote your page. When a company develops a set of “fans” on facebook, its name will appear on more and more news feeds, and the company page will grow on its own. After you have created a page for your business, here are some tips to help promote the facebook page and in return, the company itself.

Add Your Fans:
While you are viewing the “edit” area of the facebook page, click the “Marketing” tab and “Tell your Fans.” Through this method of promotion, you are able to add email addresses from your online email account or from a computer-based email program. There are simple instructions provided to add these contacts. We suggest you take this opportunity to include all of your clientele. If your clients or consumers like your product or service, they would be likely to “like” it on facebook.
Create an Advertisement:
In the same “Marketing” section, follow the link “Advertise on Facebook.” If you are interested in spending money to advertise, this may be a good idea. You are allowed to select a demographic that your ads should be used for. Advertising is always important for a business’ success.
Invite your Friends & Ask Them To Do the Same:
Sure, you don’t want to be asking everyone you are friends with on facebook to add all of their friends, but it is a good idea to ask a few close friends to invite their friends to like your page. Perhaps you can offer them a facebook favor in return. Send an email to everyone that works for the company. Ask that anyone on facebook invites all of their friends to “like” the company on facebook. Be sure to provide them with the link, so it is not an inconvenience for them to do so.
“Like” Posts, Pictures, and Events On The Page:
By liking something on the company page, you are linking yourself to the company. Actions that you perform on facebook can appear in your friends’ news feeds. This is a great way to draw attention to the company facebook page. If one of your friends is reading their news feed, and they see “Your Name likes the status of Your Company,” then this friend may be curious enough to click on your company’s link. The link will be active on their news feed, so it’s no trouble to find it. After following the link to the company’s page, your friend has the option to “like” the page. The more people that have this experience, the more likely your company is to get “fans.” Also, just as you asked your co-workers to like the page itself, remind them from time to time to like the activity on the facebook too.
Update Your Page Frequently:
Once you have fans, the updates you make will appear on their news feeds. If you update the company status at least twice a week, many people will see your name. This is the key to advertising, getting your name out there. Also, don’t be afraid to make your status non-business related. Sure it’s nice to keep your updates related to your company, but it’s a good idea to mention holidays and events as well. Many your favorite sports team just won a big game. This is good time to get some more interest in the facebook page. Other fans of the team may see your status and “like” it or at least appreciate it. Always be positive on your facebook status updates, and you will develop a positive image.
